    Postcards

Hello again, I'm not sure if this is really your "field", but I have no doubt you will be far more knowledgable about them than I!

I have a post card album ( which is in tatters ) containing approximately 200 postcards, the majority of which appear to be in good condition. Few of them have been written on. Some are full sets. Almost all of them appertain to WW1. Many have obviously been collected during a posting to Africa. There are also quite a few depicting "disasters" in and around Cumbria in the very early 1900's. There is also several ( 20 ish ) of Liverpool as it was in 1910-1912.

Are they worth anything? Are they worth passing on to my son? They were all collected by my great-grandfather.

    Yes, they are worth something.
    Full sets especially so.
And the "silk" ones in the 2nd pic are very collectable.
Like everything else, condition is very important.
There are catalogues of postcards - ask at your library, or bookshop.
The "Picture Postcard Monthly" will give details of dealers who will value it for you.
    Philip.

    .these cards look great.
Collectors only want post cards in this condition.
The cards you show in the photo most of them are above £1 each. some above £5 and some may be worth £20
It would best to pop in the shop so I could look at each one

Most of these cards are Bamforth song cards from Holmfirth in Yorkshire a complete set is worth say £5-6. I did recently sell 5 cards from diferent sets for £15 for the 5.
The silks are worth around £5-10. But the African cards are very intresting and I wouldnt like to hazard a guestimate on them.

On the subject of Bamforth cards the most famous set they did was of the Titanic sinking and the song on the cards was Nearer To Thy God Than Thee. This set is much sought after.
