Queen Anne brass candlestick
Hey John
i have this 18th century brass candlestick , looks Queen Anne , the problem i have is that at some stage of its life (probably during Victorian times) someone has soldered a silver plated floral top onto it.
i am pretty sure it was them pesky Victorians.
i was wondering how i would go about removing the gastly victorian part to get it back to its original self?
thanks

put it in the ovan on high tempreture for an hour.
and then WITH VERY THICK CLOVES, FIRE PROOF try to twist the top off.
This has worked for me in the past.
REMEMBER the stick will be RED HOT.
It is dangerous. mind no solder drips down on to you or your oven use foil on the oven base. Any wax may go on fire and smoke and smell your kitchen out.
good luck
