Members of the popular Burscough Heritage Group took a fascinating trip down memory lane on Monday night.
And there were surprises in store for at least two of the audience at The Blue Mallard as Ormskirk's Roger Blaxall gave his talk 'Should I stay or should I go?'...
Two former friends who used to play together as children met one another again with Jim Bevan of Aughton and Alice Malley who now lives in Burscough reminiscing about the good old days in WW2 Ormskirk! And making a special trip to the meeting was former Childwall child evacuee Wendy Fearns who now lives in Lathom.
And they were good old days for many of the evacuees who travelled from different parts of Liverpool and its suburbs to live in Ormskirk, Aughton, Lathom, Westhead and Burscough! A few stayed on, meeting locals and marrying them with Blaxall recalling how a reunion back in 2005 at The Civic was a great success as some 65 former evacuees returned to Ormskirk for an event organised by charity The Dark Horse Venture.
