Ormskirk did diabetes charity JDRF proud on Thursday - thanks to the support of a leading town centre building society.

Nationwide on busy Burscough St. has a new community focus in the branch with manager Janet Eccleston only too happy to allow member of staff Helen Anderson from Aughton and her 17-year-old daughter Jess to promote a raffle and fundraiser for the charity that's leading the fight against Type 1 Diabetes; Type 1 cannot be prevented as it's an auto immune disease.

The event made over £1,400 – a fitting tribute to the hard work of Helen and her daughter in supporting JDRF which funds research to cure, treat and prevent Type 1 Diabetes. It's working with government, academia and industry to accelerate research in the UK and within healthcare policy to ensure that the outcomes of research are delivered to people with type 1 in the UK, while giving support and a voice to people with type 1 and their families.
