Alzheimer's Society Central & West Lancashire held a Vintage Tea Dance at Ormskirk Civic Hall to celebrate national Dementia Awareness Week.

Thursday afternoon's event was a great success with over 80 people coming along to enjoy music and dancing as well as lovely tea and cakes all generously donated by local bakers.

Over 15 local organisations attended providing people with information and support associated with dementia and living well as we get older.

Amanda Boult, Dementia Support Worker for West Lancashire told QLocal: "I was amazed at how the local community of West Lancashire came along to help support us at this event, the turn out was fabulous and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the tea dance and the opportunity to find out more about living well with dementia.

"I would also like to thank all of the local businesses who donated their time to help make this event go with a swing, all of the musicians, singers, cakes and vintage hairdressing skills were given free of charge to support us and we are truly thankful to them.

"The new Mayor of West Lancashire, Liz Savage, came along and we were delighted to have been her first official engagement."
