Rainbow House in Mawdesley near Ormskirk has received a grant of £96,624 from the Steve Morgan Foundation, with the cheque presented by Steve Morgan Foundation Trustee, Vincent Fairclough to the new charity President, Bill Ainscough, on Friday.

The event was attended by Rainbow House service users, families and staff and the grant, which will be delivered over three years, will fund the Conductive Education for children from the Steve Morgan Foundation remit area, which includes Cheshire and Merseyside.

This will help the Mawdesley based charity as it continues to provide and develop its services across Lancashire, Cheshire and Merseyside in line with its aim to become a centre of excellence for children with disabilities mainly resulting from neurological conditions.

Bill Ainscough, President, Rainbow House, said: “Our grateful thanks go to the Steve Morgan Foundation. We are delighted that they recognise the impact of our work here at Rainbow House and the difference our services make to the lives of our service users and their families.

"This grant will be of considerable benefit as we move forward with our plans to make Rainbow House a centre of excellence for disabled children.â€

Added Vincent Fairclough: “Rainbow House provides a very professional service supporting disabled children and their families and we are delighted to award this grant to allow them to help children from our area.â€

Rainbow House receives no statutory funding but has to raise all of its own funds to continue and develop its services. It is reliant on donations, grants and fund-raising activities.

Its conductive education offers rehabilitation, education and fun for children, young people and adults with neurological conditions such a cerebral palsy, brain injury, stroke, MS and genetic conditions, and individuals with global developmental delay, undiagnosed and genetic conditions who also may benefit.

Conductive education teaches skills to empower the person to lead a more active and independent life. The aim is to help each individual achieve their full potential.

Rainbow House currently provides over 250 hours of Conductive Education each week. Conductive Education sessions are between 1 – 3 hours and for some happen more than once a week.

The Steve Morgan Foundation (previously The Morgan Foundation) was created in 2001 by Steve Morgan CBE; since then it has committed over £235m of funding.
Born in Liverpool, Steve Morgan, 64, is the founder and Chairman of Redrow plc.
and also Chairman of the Bridgemere Group of Companies, which has significant land and commercial development interests.
