Determined Macy Smith has raised over £450 for Rainbow House, the Mawdesley based charity supporting children and young people with physical and neurological disabilities.

The nine year old completed a one mile challenge in 63 minutes - the first time she has swam so far - at Leyland Leisure Centre where she has been taking lessons to develop her swimming skills for the past few years.

Leisure Centre Manager, Alex Crawford, kindly gave her a designated lane for her challenge and awarded her with the certificate after her swim - she's pictured with Alex and Dave Vickers, her old swimming teacher.

Macy’s Mum, Kat Nelson, is the Trust and Grants Officer at Rainbow House and is
very proud of her daughter!

Today, she told QLocal: “I’m delighted that Macy chose to raise funds for Rainbow House. She loves the charity and understands that it helps children with disabilities to challenge themselves and reach their goals - so Macy wanted to challenge herself to help raise vital funds. We are so thankful to family and friends including Bamber Bridge Football Club for their sponsorship which has raised a fantastic amount.”
