Will the writing be on the wall soon for the ailing Advertiser*?
Its latest ABC (Audit Bureau of Circulations) figures released at lunchtime reveal its average circulation during 2017 plummeted to around 1,440 a week, with just 300 or so readers buying its sister paper, the Skelmersdale Advertiser.
Media pundits reckon that every paper is read by three people meaning under the Ormskirk paper 'boasts' just 4,300 or so readers.
It's very sad news indeed and a reflection perhaps how owners Trinity Mirror might have the last rites in store for a once proud weekly written and printed in Ormskirk.
*ABC figures calculate the joint readership of both papers; the Skem. edition sells just 15 per cent of the total on average each week.
