Independent councillor Adrian Owens of 'Our West Lancashire' has some good news (fingers and everything else crossed) on the controversial parking issues at EHU which always surface late September/early October.
Let's hope the Uni (fingers, etc) now plays its part in stressing to students and visitors the seriousness of the problems and the bad feeling it creates year on year as too many cars try to park in too few spaces.
For its part, QLocal will be visiting St Helen's Road, Ruff Lane and Scarth Hill Lane every weekday to update readers of the town's favourite community news website on if anything's changed; many folk feel sorry for the students who are ill prepared for expensive fines they have to pay for something that's beyond their control...
This was e mailed out to local residents by Coun. Owens yesterday: 'You will see attached that after the correspondence below and my press release that the portfolio holder has promised increased parking enforcement around Edge Hill during the first few weeks of term when parking problems are significant.
'This is a positive step forward and I have alerted the police and Borough Council that the impasse has hopefully been removed and that they can now liaise fruitfully with Lancashire Parking Services.
And the original (gratifying) reply from Ormskirk's John Fillis, the County Councillor who heads up Highway services for LCC:
'Further to your email of 16 August 2016, with regard to parking enforcement arrangements in the vicinity of Edge Hill University at the beginning of the academic year.
'The parking services team have confirmed that the locations identified by Lancashire Police are areas that they will be visiting in September and October during the start of the academic year. Our officers have regularly visited these locations in previous years and will continue to do so.
'I am sorry if there has been any misunderstanding but it does appear to me that the locations of concern as identified by the police have been confirmed by our parking services team as the locations that our team will be concentrating on.
'However to avoid any confusion I can confirm that our officers will concentrate on the areas of Scarth Hill Lane, St Helens Road and Ruff Lane.
'Our normal enforcement levels within the West Lancashire area will be increased during this time, but exact times and locations cannot be agreed in advance as the officers will also be covering the regular patrols during this period.
'The locations identified will be patrolled on a regular basis during this time.'
Will these scooter bound men and women ask them to move on - or wait for them to park and then pounce? It's a potential money spinner for LCC, and QLocal hopes there'll be fair play all round... And of course, canny students will soon find there are plenty of other free parking places round the area on country roads - if they are prepared to walk to Uni. Finally, will EHU re open its field car park off Scarth Hill Lane which some students complained was not fit for purpose?

Should of let them build the multi-story car park when there was a chance

Well Mystery, if Edge Hill had ever applied for a multi storey car park then perhaps the council could have approved it? They have not.
Unfortunately such three dimensional thinking or better lateral thinking (park and ride?) seems lacking at this institution of learning.

Union parking issue is one of the major issues which students are facing now. This can be solved by allotting parking space for vehicle separately so that no clash will occur. My subject is all about essay writers for hire services and I attend in the afternoon. So I don't say have any problems related to parking.
