Gambling establishments and people living in West Lancashire are being asked for their views on the Council’s revised policy for licensing gambling premises across the Borough.
West Lancashire Borough Council is responsible for issuing licences for premises such as bingo halls and betting offices, as well as permits for gaming machines in pubs, clubs and other alcohol licensed premises.
Under the Gambling Act 2005, the Council is required to publish a ‘statement of policy’ to set out how it would enforce this responsibility.
The document must be renewed every three years. The Council is now in the process of refreshing the policy and wants comments from the public and interested stakeholders.
The draft Policy proposes several important changes aimed to address potential safeguarding concerns, including a requirement for licensed premises to carry out local risk assessments to ensure the business takes account of its impact on the community. People have until 4 November to give their views, which will be taken into account by the Council before the policy is published early next year.
Councillor Kevin Wright, Portfolio Holder for Health and Community Safety, said: "Our policy has three objectives: to prevent crime or disorder, ensure that gambling is conducted in a fair and open way, and protect children and other vulnerable persons from being harmed or exploited by gambling.
“We want to give residents and businesses the opportunity to comment on the draft to ensure our policy still fully reflects the needs and views of the borough."
To read the document, visit the Council’s website www.westlancs.gov.uk/gamblingact and click on the link entitled 'Statement of policy'.
You can email your comments to licensing.enquiries@westlancs.gov.uk, or post your comments in to West Lancashire Borough Council, Robert Hodge Centre, Stanley Way, Skelmersdale, WN8 8EE
Hard copies of the draft policy are available on request by contacting the Council’s Licensing Service at the above address or on 01695 577177.

I'm very positive towards legalizing casinos. But not newly created ones, because there are enough of them, but online ones. Nowadays, in a gambling world, the most popular are online casinos. Thanks to the technological and informational progress such thing has been created. First of all, it's safer than ordinary online casinos, because there is no need to give your info to play. Also, your money is safe in a virtual wallet, and you can withdraw them at any time. Provably, nowadays, fair gaming is only established in BTC gambling.Secondly, the variety of different game is enormous. You can play most of them without money, but later, you can do it and win, or lose. One more thing and my favorite is that it's possible to play bitcoin casino on smartphones or tablets. All in all, it's not even the third part of advantages and features, check https://bitcoincasinosonly.com and find them out!
