Booths take pride in the selection of fresh, British grown fruit and vegetables.
With numerous varieties of British Apples to choose from there were plenty to be packed into this celebratory pie baked by northern based Boho Baker in celebration of Great British Apple Day 2017.
Representatives from the local Grove Foodbank in Burscough joined the celebration and were presented with the pie by store manager Richard Ford on behalf of Booths.
The store has an ongoing relationship with the Foodbank which involves the donation of excess or unwanted fruit and vegetables to be upcycled by its team.
The English apple crop is wonderfully varied, and as the year progresses it’s a great pleasure to taste the different varieties. Booths has refreshing Bramley apples, tangy Cox’s Orange Pippins, nutty Egremont Russets and crisp Galas. As well as being nature’s perfect hand-to-mouth snack, these dessert apples make subtly different apple tarts or pies, and will all bring something unique to a British cheeseboard.
Developed by the Delbard nursery in France in the 1950s, the Delbard Estivale is another attempt to improve on Golden Delicious. Now grown in Britain this fruit is a delightful addition to the English Apples available on booths shelves. Whilst still a sharp apple, Estivale is inherently sweeter and we offers the perfect balance between sweet and sharp.
All Booths fresh produce is available in store. Our customers can now order for Christmas and New Year prepared fruit and vegetable boxes, including Booths Tree Ripened Apple and Pear Box for £8.00 online at www.orders.booths.co.uk this Christmas season.
