A Burscough teen's recovering after being hit by a car which Police say was a '50/50' accident.
Normally, the Police would give the briefest of details of the crash, which happened at Thursday teatime on Liverpool Road South near its junction with Square Lane - and true to form here's a Press Office statement released to QLocal's Roger Blaxall yesterday afternoon: "We were called by the Ambulance Service shortly before 5pm on Thursday 23rd November to reports of a minor injury RTC on Liverpool Road South, Burscough.
"A black Audi A3 and a male pedestrian have been involved. The pedestrian was admitted to hospital, although his injuries are not believed to be serious."
And, unusually, here's a perspective from the boy's dad, QLocal correspondent Gavin Rattray who e-mailed QLocal's newsdesk yesterday afternoon: "Alex was crossing the A59 from our home at 5pm.
"Traffic was stationary on his side and moving the other, and he crossed quickly in a gap in the moving traffic but his view wasn’t great and he didn’t see an Audi A3 quickly join the A59 from Square Lane and it hit him and bounced him off its bonnet onto the road unconscious.
"I don’t know how long the ambulance took but very kind motorists/passers by called the ambulance and put him into the recovery position covered in blankets and I believe he recovered consciousness quickly.
"The ambulance called the police themselves when they arrived.
"Alex was taken to Southport where they put seven staples in his head wound, one ear is now partly glued on, he has a fair bit of bruising all over and a bust lip.
"He must be still be slightly concussed as his short term memory is not great today.
"However, he is very lucky not to have a life changing injury."
Get well soon, Alex.
