West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper has called on Lancashire County Council to stop ignoring West Lancashire residents’ complaints.
She's faced waiting times recently of up to three and half months for responses to her correspondence, when representing the issues of West Lancashire constituents.
Hundreds of residents write to Rosie Cooper MP each month with issues and concerns many of which fall under the remit of the County Council which Rosie follows up with the authority.
Over five cases are still outstanding from 2017 while over 20 are still waiting for a response that have gone four weeks or more without reply.
Rosie Cooper MP is concerned by Lancashire County Council’s lack of response to residents’ issues, telling QLocal yesterday: “It seems that Lancashire County Council are in complete disarray.
"For any organisation to take over three months to respond to a communication is shocking and LCC seems to forget that the county council is funded by the council taxpayers of West Lancashire as well as other parts of Lancashire.
“I have always known Lancashire County Council to be difficult, but now they seem impossible to deal with! The service has certainly dipped in recent months. LCC really do need to get their act together and start serving the residents of West Lancashire as they are paid to do.
“I regularly write to senior figures at LCC on behalf of residents on issues including roads and potholes, schools and education, grass cutting, buses and flooding, all major issues for my constituents which LCC control.
“I will be meeting with the Chief Executive Angie Ridgwell in the coming weeks to seek answers to all of my outstanding casework issues and attempt to get an agreed timeframe for responses which meets my constituents’ needs.”
