Two dumped sofas are now back where they belong.
The Borough Council removed them from the path behind the railway station car park and issued this statement to QLocal: "The sofas were on Borough Council land and were removed on Tuesday 23 August.
"Fly-tipping is a serious criminal offence and the Council will take action against the culprits wherever possible.
"Council staff can issue £200 fines as fixed penalty notices. The culprits involved in more serious offences could face fines of up to £50,000. There is no limit to the fines businesses could face if they are prosecuted.
"If you think waste has been disposed of illegally then you can report this to the Council 24 hours a day on our website www.westlancs.gov.uk/flytipping. Or you can call 01695 577177 between 8.30am and 5.30pm Monday to Friday."
