Should Lancashire Constabulary have a dedicated officer policing Edge Hill University?
The Uni and Students Union might agree, but the force begs to differ after QLocal discovered that in the last few months there’s been no specific officer responsible for police liaison at the campus.
This from Sgt Craig Appleton of Ormskirk Police: "I can confirm that there is no new Edge Hill University neighbourhood officer.
“PC 1081 Paul Austin used to cover that area but was moved to the Aughton area a few months ago.
“However, the area is of course still covered 24/7 by immediate response officers.”
QLocals's Roger Blaxall's now awaiting a statement from both the Uni PR office and a representative of the Student Union body.

So let’s see, what contribution does the Uni make to local policing? That would be nil then! And what portion of the council tax that goes for policing do Students contibute! Well again that would be nothing. If the uni wants extra policing, pay for it! I pay my councl tax therefore Policing! I hear Lord Lucan was in Town the other day looking for a Policeman!
