Plans are taking shape for Ormskirk to have its own BID (Business Improvement District) which could see a real business boost for the town!
And they received favourable feedback at a meeting in Chapel Gallery last Wednesday night when businesses heard that the town's biggest employer, Edge Hill University, would be allowed on board as a member.
This would mean see the borough having a greater economic 'clout' in investment for the future of Ormskirk.
Last Wednesday's meeting also featured an expert Google marketeer who spoke of the necessity of getting on line for today's IT savvy consumers, particularly younger shoppers.

Just when is it going to hit home that Nobody wants to shop in towns anymore. Out of town shopping and on line is the way things are going. Time for a complete change of use for town centres. Time to convert empty business buildings to good quality low cost family accommodation and re energise the town with families. I note Edge Hill are represented within this group, it should be noted Edge Hill is a business who’s self interest must come first and not the requirements of residents of the town. I can only imagine just how much money has been wasted on so called town improvement that were going to bring business prosperity and the towns salvation yet singly fail to do so! I say it again! shopping habits have changed, time to re-think town side usage. Good quality family accommodation is what is required. Stop wasting money and reinvest in local family needs.
