An Ormskirk Chinese takeaway owner was left counting the cost after being duped in a fake £20 scam twice in a week.
Kai, who owns Food4U on Burscough St., was left feeling sour not sweet after falling prey to a young man and female accomplice who twice paid for meals with the realistic notes.
He’s now displayed one for staff to examine after last week’s incident.
On the first occasion, Kai was duped but when the same couple came in he was more wary and told them to pay with cash, watching them purport to take money out of the Nationwide ATM.
They proffered yet another dud note at a very busy time for a portion of chips at £1.80, making a profit of £18.20 as they left.
Their images would have been captured on the shop CCTV and a member of the Ormskirk Takeaway Drivers Association has since warned every other takeaway in town of the deception.
