A few weeks ago, County Councillor Keith Iddon was pontificating at Aughton parish council about the challenges facing the authority about repairs to the county's highways infrastructure.
Red faces all round then at County Hall no doubt when someone realised that chevrons damaged back in 2013 on the busy fire station roundabout were never fixed...
They're repaired now - and the grass was cut on Saturday morning - but the roundabout's still past its glory days when it was properly planted out and a welcoming feature of folks arrival into Ormskirk.
Said one of the workmen, candidly: "The problem now is that since job re-evaluation, we've got too many bosses. And the fact they're buying poorer quality tools for us to do the job doesn't help, either."
