Redrow is taking nothing for granted as the new Yew Tree Farm development takes shape.
QLocal reporter Roger Blaxall took these pictures of the flood prevention work that's taking place with the installation of this large lagoon like structure behind homes on Liverpool Road South; it's not known if it will be eventually covered over or left as a feature at the development
And not everyone wanted the new estate in the first place as this e mail off Gavin Rattray of the feisty Burscough Flooding Group shows...
He contacted the busy QLocal newsdesk after being asked for a comment on the installation of the lagoon; Redrow's PR's office is yet to reply to an e mail sent last week.
Said Gavin: 'BFG has written to WLBC and council leader Ian Moran personally several times to raise concerns that the drainage from the development will increase the surface water flooding risk due to the current inadequacies of UUs sewers.
BFG has backed up its concerns with evidence of flooding provided by residents; WLBC has completely ignored all communications with BFG on the issue and refuses to release any information they hold themselves about flooding in Burscough under the freedom of information act.
WLBC is failing in its duty to protect existing and new residents from flood risk due to development and is illegally withholding the information which could prove they are allowing corners to be cut and highlight the lack of care they take to protect existing and future residents from flooding.'
Our thanks to the young couple who've recently moved into Burscough for access to their back bedroom for one of these photos.
