"Who's the lady who wants to tidy up all the flower beds in Ormskirk?" asked a reader this week.
Told it was Jane Thompson of Our West Lancashire, she replied "Thanks, that's who I'm voting for!"
The grassroots party have hit a nerve with one of its 'grassroots' policies and have been active over the last two years or more tidying up Ormskirk and planting the planters at the end of Burscough Road.
To see how bad things are, reporter Roger Blaxall took these pictures of the shabby Town End roundabout on Tuesday afternoon.
The good news is that if Labour retain control of the borough they too have big plans to make west Lancashire a lot more green and pleasant with the authority bringing back grass cutting etc in house despite shedding dozens of gardening staff in the last few years.
Just one more thing - have the local Tories thrown in the towel? There's been precious little Conservative info on its candidates in and around Ormskirk...
PLEASE don't forget to vote today - Blaxall's looking forward to the count from 10 pm at the Burscough Sports Centre!
