Learn more about the excellent achievements of West Lancashire Borough Council’s Housing and Inclusion Service by taking a look at its annual report on the authority's website.
Each year the Council produces the Housing Annual Report for tenants which details what the service has achieved over the previous 12 months.
Councillor Jenny Forshaw, portfolio holder for Housing and Landlord Services, said: “Tenants will find the Annual Report very interesting reading and they can find out more about what the Council is doing for them. The Housing and Inclusion Service staff can be very proud of the work they do. The service continues to provide excellent value for money through our partnerships and tendering processes by ensuring we get the best quality at the best price.”
The Borough Council provides nearly 6,000 homes for tenants. Working to deliver housing that meets the needs of local people, including affordable housing, and aiming to be a top performing landlord are important priorities in the Council Plan.
The Housing Annual Report highlights some impressive achievements for 2017/18. These include:
Making improvements to 1,657 homes through the Council's investment programme
Helping 566 tenants move into their new homes
Supporting almost 1,400 tenants by providing rent and money advice, helping them access nearly £250,000 extra in benefits
Carrying out 22,035 repairs to tenants homes
Collecting £107,000 of rent arrears from former tenants
The Annual Report also tells tenants how much rent was collected in the course of 2017/18 and how their rent is spent. There is information showing some of the ways we are investing in the future, including helping tenants go digital.
