Congratulations were the order of the day last Monday as Mary Twiss celebrated her 101st birthday at her home in Stocks Hall residential home, Ormskirk.
It was a grand event with family flying from across the world to be with her including daughter Jeanie, who flew over from Australia; pictured above is Mary with David Twiss, Samantha Twiss and Jeanie.
Mary is originally from Liverpool and worked as a Seamstress; she has three children, 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren - there is 100 years difference between Mary and one of her great grandchildren!
Thrown a surprise party in her honour with friends and family surrounding her, Mary blew out her birthday candles to the applause of her guests.
When asked the secret to her long life she told QLocal: “Always be happy and spend time with those you love. A glass of sherry helps too!”
