A group of Labour councillors and community activists have tackled litter on the footpath between by Ormskirk railway station and bus station.
Last Thursday's clean up was organised by Cllr Noel Delaney (Scott Ward) and community activist, Michelle Aldridge, with a dozen people spent the morning picking up the rubbish dropped on the footpath, collecting 22 large bags of rubbish in the process!
Cllr Delaney told QLocal yesterday: "I walk this way every day and the amount of rubbish I see is a huge disappointment as it is often the first impression visitors have of Ormskirk.
"I mentioned the problem to my Labour colleagues and they offered to come and help.
"Many people stopped and thanked us for our efforts. Although the pathway is the responsibility of Network Rail, it was long overdue a clean up, Iād also like to thank Street Scene for removing the bags of rubbish for us.ā
It was a busy morning for Noel and Michelle, after the litter pick at Ormskirk Railway Station they went on to tackle the footpath between Lea Crescent and Yew Tree Road and reported the loose flag and slippery paths after being contacted by local residents.

Is it coming up for election time for Cllr Delaney ? I note he says he asked his party Councillor colleagues to help but it seemed no one did (or they would surely have been mentioned by name ?)
Still it's good to see pensioner participation !
