This year Arriva, Stagecoach and Merseyrail will be running late night bus and train services in the run up to Christmas, with buses running on selected routes across the region and trains running from Liverpool to Hooton and to Southport.



Late night bus services
On Friday nights/Saturday mornings 14 and 21 December and on Saturday nights/Sunday mornings 15 and 22 December bus services will run between midnight and 5am.

On Friday nights/Saturday mornings buses run from Liverpool City Centre, Sir Thomas Street to Chester Centre or to Ellesmere Port, and there are buses from Liverpool ONE Bus Station to Liverpool Airport via Penny Lane every night. Check website for full details.

Late night train services.

On Friday nights/Saturday mornings 14 and 21 December and Saturday nights/Sunday mornings 15 and 22 December trains will run a limited service at 1.30am from Liverpool Central to Hooton, stopping only at Birkenhead Central, Bebington, Bromborough and Hooton stations; and from Liverpool Central to Southport, stopping only at Waterloo, Formby and Southport stations.

Passengers will only be allowed to board services at Liverpool Central. This is a drop off service only. Check website for full details.

Cllr Liam Robinson, Liverpool City Region Combined Authority Transport Portfolio Holder, said: "Late night services are back again this year to give people more choice when it comes to travelling around the city region during the festive season. Getting home from a Christmas night out can be difficult and costly, so we hope that as many people as possible take advantage of these services in the run up to Christmas."
