Ormskirk and District Family History Society extends a warm welcome to anyone who would like to join them for their final meeting of the year, on Wednesday 22 November.

Mr. Stuart Elliot will give a talk on English Village Life in the Middle Ages, beginning at 8pm. As usual, the meeting will be held at the Guide HQ on Moorgate, Ormskirk, and all are welcome to attend, whether a member of the Society or not. (ODFHS request a £1 donation for non-members.)

As this will be the last meeting before Christmas, a raffle will be held to raise funds for Ormskirk and District Family History Society, and - in addition to the usual tea and coffee - a light buffet will be provided, to add a festive flavour to the evening.

ODFHS will continue to open their Research Library at the Scout HQ on Wigan Road, and hold their Help Desk in Ormskirk Library for the next few weeks. The last Research Library session before Christmas will be between 2p.m. and 3p.m. on Monday 11 December, and the final Help Desk session will run between 10a.m and 12p.m. on Thursday 14 December. Members and visitors are always welcome to come along to either session for help and advice.

The Society’s 2018 programme will begin on 24 January, with a talk on Local 20th Century Newspapers by Mr. Roger Blaxall.
