West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper has received assurances by West Lancashire Borough Council over its dog waste disposal provision.

Following concerns raised by residents, MP Rosie wrote to the Council’s Street Scene department and was told that it had been agreed that there would be no more ‘dog waste’ only bins but that any bin could now be used for dog waste. This has led to an increase, not a reduction in the number of bins available for dog walkers to use.

It was also confirmed that bins have had stickers applied to inform the public of this.

Rosie Cooper MP said:
“Residents have written to me expressing their concern about a reduction in the number of dog bins available for dog waste disposal.

“Having written to the Council, I have been assured that the Council has only recently agreed to allow dog waste be disposed of in all bins across the borough, and not just the previous dog waste only bins.

“Stickers have been put on the bins to let residents know they can dispose of dog waste in the normal bin. This now means there is more receptacles available for residents and dog-walkers to make use of, which can only contribute positively to the environment.”
