MP Rosie Cooper's secured the schedule from Lancashire County Council for their grass cutting in the borough.
In recent months, hundreds of residents have contacted MP Rosie raising their concerns about the poor state of the grass, lack of maintenance and even sub-standard work where areas have been tended to.
The MP contacted the Director of Community Services at Lancashire County Council to raise the various issues and seek a response to deal with the growing concerns.
Community Services have notified Rosie that they have scheduled rural flail cuts for roads including on the A59, A565 and A5209 for May, July and October each year.
In addition, there will be six urban amenity cuts taking place during the peak season from April through October. These will depend on weather conditions as well as temporary traffic regulation orders (TTROs) in place at the time.
Said Cooper: “Hundreds of residents have been in touch with me disappointed over the state of some of the work carried out by Lancashire County Council or their contractors, or even the total lack of work around grass cutting and maintenance.
“The issue of grass cutting has led to many concerns that West Lancashire may become a less desirable place to visit or do business, and certainly in some circumstances the lack of maintenance at junctions and roundabouts has been a clear highways safety issue.
“People of West Lancashire want to feel proud of their area and the lack of pride shown of late about grass cutting and its visual impact has been disappointing for many residents.
“I am pleased to confirm that there will be six urban amenity cuts through the year during the next season, on top of three rural flail cuts along our important A roads including the A59.
“Whilst we have confirmed this commitment, I will be keeping a close eye to ensure the work is carried out in full and to the appropriate standard.”
