Following concerns raised by a number of constituents, MP Rosie Cooper met with Network Rail staff at Ormskirk bus station to discuss the litter situation on the walkway between the bus and train stations.
Previously, MP Rosie secured agreement from Network Rail to ensure there was regular cleaning and maintenance of the area.
Now, having contacted West Lancashire Borough Council regarding the issue of litter, they have accepted the need for increased litter provision and have installed one new bin and replaced one damaged bin at the approach to the walkway.
Rosie told QLocal: “I’m grateful to Network Rail and West Lancashire Borough Council for recognising constituents’ concerns and the litter issues in what is the gateway to the town for many people arriving by public transport.
“We hope to see the bins used and an improved appearance of the walkway and surrounding areas.
“The two new litter bins installed combined with commitments received from Network Rail for regular litter picks should go some way to making commuters’ and visitors’ arrival to the town a more pleasant experience.
“I would encourage everyone to make use of these bins and keep the area tidy.”

MP secures litter bin. I'm not decrying that, but what a poor state of affairs when our MP should be concentrating on our interests at national level. She's not a councillor - perhaps national problems relating to West Lancashire are too difficult.
