West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper has welcomed the efforts by the Post Office to provide its services in the rural community.
The Post Office has gone out to consultation on a proposal to offer a pop up service at Haskayne Village Hall.
Should the plans go ahead, Haskayne will be served by the Burscough Postmaster at the Village Hall on Mondays, 11.15am - 1.15pm with an almost full range of services offered.
Residents are currently being consulted on the proposal up until 4 October, to consider the suitability of the new location, its access and any other community issues.
Said Cooper: “We’ve seen a major reduction in the Post Office’s offer in recent years, very often heavily impacting on our rural communities.
“However, I very much welcome this commitment from the Post Office to provide as much of its services as possible to the residents of Haskayne who may otherwise struggle to get to a branch in Ormskirk or Burscough.
“While the proposals are for a limited hours service, it would be great for local residents to feed in their views and at least have some local provision available for them.
“Haskayne has been without its local branch for seven years now and so I’m sure this new proposal will be of great interest to local residents.”
