Police investigations are continuing after a £38,000 Mercedes GLA was wrecked following a dramatic chase and crash in Ormskirk last Friday.
The drama began after the car was seen driving the wrong way down Railway Road where it hit a Ford Focus CC.
It then drove through the Wheatsheaf car park and then down Burscough Street and Road at speeds of around 75 mph before dramatically hitting a tree and road sign at the junction with County Road.
This afternoon, a Police PR officer told QLocal: "We were called at 22:09 hours on Friday 26th October to reports of a collision on Burscough Road in Ormskirk.
"It involved a Ford and a Mercedes. The Mercedes later collided with a tree, and the occupant of the Mercedes left the scene.
"No injuries were reported, and a 31 year old man voluntarily attended a police station, was interviewed and released pending further enquiries.
"Enquiries are ongoing."
