Ormskirk's Lois Smith brought the town's traffic to a halt on Friday evening at the 'new' Christmas tree light switch on!
Commendably, two police officers ensured that the illumination of the tree - bought by public subscription after a campaign by Our West Lancashire - went ahead in safety as they stopped the traffic at the top of Park Road for Lois and town crier Don Evans to do the honours.
And Coun. Adrian Owens has been fulsome in his praise for all those businesses and individuals who contributed toward the tree and its lights; any money in the coffers will be used to keep this new Christmas tradition going for 2018 and beyond, he told QLocal.
The small event outside the parish church was in stark contrast to the garish switch on in the town centre which has been criticised by many on FB as it tried to mix the sacred and secular...
