West Lancashire Mayor Neil Furey says he's been bowled over by the success of Ormskirk's all conquering cricket club - and no wonder!
The Brook Lane outfit recorded their best year ever in the 2017 season - and in recognition of their successes were invited to a civic reception with the Mayor at the borough council offices on Wednesday night when he paid fulsome praise to the teams’ exploits.
Its first, second and third X1's were champions in the Liverpool and District Premier League first, second and third divisions respectively and joint winners in the Lancashire Cricket Board KO competition.
Peter McCann, chairman of the West Lancashire cricket development group, wrote to the Council asking for some civic recognition of their amazing season which Mayor Furey was only too happy to accede to.
Chairman Tim Dickinson (right) told the Mayor that the club was in good hands for the future with a thriving youth section and some of the best facilities in the NW for the game with its stunning new pavilion garnering praise from visitors and the local community alike.
