They're the lucky drivers who managed to squeeze into a parking place at the front of EHU; two or three more were not so lucky though as these pictures by QLocal's Roger Blaxall - on his way to the sell out Fresher's Fair - prove.
One of the hapless drivers even had a Uni car park registration pass in the windscreen which cut little ice with the Lancashire Parking Services squad who are now regularly patrolling St Helen's Road where parking on a single white Clearway line is illegal.
As usual, the new EHU car parks were all full with latecomers having little option but to park much further away or take the easier - and ultimately much more expensive - option...
Will they never learn?

Hopefully with the extra patrols it won't be so bad this year

It's not very often I agree with Jester01 but on this occasion I do. This however does not negate Edge Hills responsibility to its students or residents to getting to grips with student parking issues not of their making. Hiding behind the statement "we recommend students not to bring cars" has simply never worked, you recruited the students and take their money, you need to deal with their requirements.

Looking at Edge Hill's online presence there is little or no promotion of car sharing. There are apps available now that would easily pair up students and reduce their expenses at the same time while freeing up road space. Edge Hill could do so much more but we all know that already.

Don't know why they haven't built a multi storey car park yet,
Oh wait that's right the council probably refused planning

i went to the post sort office the other day and the site of the old atkinson & kirby is massive it would make a perfect park and ride for students and vistors alike
i think it would be much more suitable than huge supermarket which has been rumoured which could affect local buisnesses
i know it could cause some traffic problems but it has to be better than big delivery wagons at 6am in the morning .
just a thought for edge hill and the council alike

Incorrect - the council have never considered such a planning application. I think this is the second time you have posted this assertion so please get your facts straight.
If the University came forward with plan for a multistorey in the right part of campus or better still a park and ride then that would, I am sure, be properly considered.

It does not bode well for higher education when all that brain power at Edge Hill can't even find a route to resolve these parking issues.of there own making.

Take a look at ehu.ac.uk/travel where you will find the full range of ways to travel to campus, the very last option being car parking. Car sharing, public transport (free bus up the road for staff and students), walking and cycling are extensively promoted to both staff and students. Just because it's not on the homepage of the website, doesn't mean people aren't being pushed the message!

What you fail to mention is students are taking not a bit of notice and never have done, just to keep thing clear, it's not only Students! I have also witnessed staff and others who are also happy to abandon there vehicles almost anywhere including across drive ways.
