A group of men have been charged as part of a national investigation into the group National Action.



On Wednesday 27 September 2017 as part of coordinated activity, officers from Counter Terrorism Policing North East and North West, supported by Wales Extremism and Counter Terrorism Unit and Wiltshire Police, executed a number of warrants and searched properties across England and Wales.



The following men have all been charged with belonging to a proscribed organisation contrary to section 11 of the Terrorism Act 2000.



· Garron Helm (22/09/1993) of Gladstone Road, Seaforth

· Matthew Hankinson (04/06/1994) of Market Street, Newton-Le-Willows

· Andrew Clarke (22/08/1984) of Marsh House Lane, Paddington

· Christopher Lythgoe (24/04/1986) of Greymist Avenue, Woolston

· Michal Trubini (06/08/1982) of Dutton Court, Warrington



A 22-year-old man has been charged with the above offence as well as the intention of committing acts of terrorism contrary to section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006 and threats to kill.



Lythgoe has also been charged with encouragement to commit murder.



They are due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court today, Friday 27 October 2017.

In a statement, West Lancashire MP Ms Cooper said: "I would like to thank everyone involved in this case, especially the counter-terrorism police, for keeping me, my staff and the public safe.

"There remains an ongoing criminal investigation so it would not be appropriate for me to comment further."
