Police are appealing for information to trace a man believed to have been involved in a case of historic sexual abuse.



The man, who was around 25 and a bus driver at the time of the incident, is believed to have groomed a 13 year-old girl back in the 1970s.

Detective Constable Kevin Mitchell said: “We’re aware that there isn’t much information to go on, however we want to do everything we can to bring justice to the victim.

“The bus driver worked for Merseyside Passenger Transport Executive (MPTE) during the 70s – We’d therefore like to hear from anyone else that also worked for the company or has any photographs/company documents they could share with us from this time.

“We hope with this, we can build a picture of what the company was like and who may have known the suspect.

“After spending some time already looking through the bus company archives, we’ve been led to believe that the man may have used a fake name when talking to the victim.

“We also unfortunately don’t have a photo of the offender, however the victim has been really brave in coming forward with describing him – she says he had a pointy chin, blue eyes and, at the time, long curly hair.

“Does someone spring to mind? If you were also a bus driver in the 70s or you lived in the Liverpool area and used the bus on a regular basis to get to school, work or town and you think you have information that could help in our investigation, I urge you to get in contact.”
