Ah, gather 'round, folks for another episode of 'Adventures in Grid Maintenance' along the legendary Prescot Road!

You might recall my tale from last week where I regaled you with the saga of perpetually blocked drains and the thrilling waterworks show that ensued at Doctor's Bridge and Moss Delph Lane, all courtesy of our downhill friends, Long Lane and Prescot Road.

Now, brace yourselves for the encore: those heroic reports sent off into the digital ether via the illustrious "Love Clean Streets" app a whopping 110 days ago? Well, hold onto your hats, because they've been spirited away into a void, never to be seen again!

It seems our dear County Council has a unique method of drain maintenance—simply delete the reports and voila, problem solved!

Picture my sheer delight upon receiving a notification on the app this week, a glimmer of hope that perhaps, just perhaps, action was afoot.

Alas, it was not to be.

Instead, I discovered that all 28 of my December reports had been whisked away into the digital ether, leaving me to face the grim reality of our gutter-laden dystopia once more, my hopes of a functioning drainage system dashed.

And let's not forget the pièce de résistance: the pavement! Ah, yes, a true marvel of modern neglect, adorned with threadbare patches, trip hazards, and gutters brimming with a delightful medley of leaves and debris. It's like walking through a jungle, minus the exotic wildlife (unless you count the odd rogue pothole).

As our Council Tax bills make their grand entrance and local elections loom on the horizon, it's high time we ask ourselves: who's really got our backs in this neck of the woods?

Perhaps it's time for our elected officials to step up and act in our interests, knocking a bit of practical sense into the works departments.

Maybe a little inter-authority tête-à-tête, a dance of communication between West Lancs and Lancashire, to sweep the gutters clean and then clear those stubborn grids and bingo... we can sleep easy, until the Autumn.

And hey, why not throw in a street party while we're at it? After all, nothing says 'community spirit' like celebrating the long-awaited arrival of basic functioning infrastructure!
