A fabulous afternoon and evening is planned for Burscough’s first Family and Music
Festival to be held at Burscough Cricket Club on Saturday, with the running order as follows:

The event - which is for all the family - has been organised to launch YOBs, a new
youth organisation that is working to improve the youth facilities in Burscough
helping to create more places to go and more things to do for teenagers.

Mayor, Neil Furey and his consort will open the event, and there'll be a wide range of live music throughout 2pm-11pm. headlined by Liverpool band The Boston Shakers (pictured) at 10pm.

The electronic rock & rap & roll outfit hail from Liverpool with an infusion of heavy beats mixed with fuzzy guitars, shaken with raps and garnished with a dash of white noise.

The band started when six friends with the same passion for music and drinks decided to blend the musical genres they had been listening and playing for years with the night-life atmosphere and environment they were working in as bartenders.

The resulting songs combine the different ingredients and sounds that have influenced the members of the band, from the authenticity of blues and the rawness of British rock to the samples, drums, and production techniques of hip-hop and dance music.

With big mpc beats, wailing guitars and captivating raps served "on the rocks", the Boston Shakers are a cocktail of good vibrations you won't get enough o!

Kinky Oyster came together under the banner of "rusty guns", an idea launched by the Engine Rooms in Skelmersdale. Inspired by the "young guns" programme for budding musicians under 18, rusty guns was formed so the parents didn't feel left out! They'll be playing classic rock/blues covers

Rock And Rolla Cola, a five piece blues/rock band from Orrell nr Wigan cover a wide range of deep blues classics featuring outstanding Blues guitar and loud gravelly vocals.

John Kenny And The Lazy Angels - John Kenny vocals and guitars and Richard Tomlinson keyboards and vocals will feature an evening of songs, with tracks By Van Morrison, The Eagles, John Kenny, Thin Lizzy, Blind Willie McTell, Rolling Stones, Joni Mitchell, Monkees and Stealers Wheel
