West Lancashire’s ‘Dementia Action Alliance’ is inviting community groups to the launch of an exciting new local initiative tomorrow afternoon at the Borough Council.

There are over 850,000 people living with Dementia in the UK, with this number set to rise to 1 million by 2025 and 2 million by 2050.

Here in West Lancashire, there are 1,564 people living with the condition; the Prime Minister’s Challenge on Dementia aims to create Dementia Friendly Communities around the country, supporting those living with Dementia and their carers, living independently in their community for longer.

There are over 275 Dementia Action Alliances across the country, all working to support their local areas; DAAs are formed with the support of charities, councils, and NHS bodies, but equally important must include local stakeholders from schools, colleges and universities, to community groups such as Rotary and U3A, from care homes and care providers, to high street businesses like supermarkets, banks, pubs and local transport services.

Come along to the launch to see how you can get involved! The event opens at 2pm.
