Locals are being asked to have a clear out and donate to the second new Barnardo’s shop in the town.

It opened Ormskirk's first charity shop 28 years ago and has been pleased by the reception for the newcomer which started trading on Saturday next to Poundland

Manager Veronica Morris (right) and staff are looking for two things - volunteers (what's new?) and donations of quality women’s, men’s and children’s wear as well as accessories including shoes and bags, bric-a-brac, toys, DVDs and books and games (ditto).

All money raised in the shop will be used to help vulnerable and disadvantaged children and young people who are supported by the charity. This includes local children who are disabled, those who live in poverty and those who care for a sick or disabled relative.

The shop has a small, friendly team of staff and volunteers – but needs more volunteers to help with the stock and on the shop floor.

Veronica told QLocal: "We've been made to feel very welcome in Ormskirk since we opened.

"People are saying how easy it is just to park on the retail park and drop stuff off to us.

"As well as much-needed donations, we’d like to appeal for volunteers to come and help us in the shop. Volunteers are the backbone of our stores, we would not be able to do what we do without them.

“Volunteering with Barnardo’s is a great way to make new friends as well as a chance to add to your CV. We’re a very friendly small team and look forward to meeting those who have an interest in joining us,” she added.

Please call into the shop for more details about volunteering. For more information about how Barnardo’s changes lives, please go to www.barnardos.org.uk.
