Police officers from Hutton HQ have been rolling up their sleeves to volunteer at Rainbow House, the conductive education centre at Mawdesley, nr Ormskirk.

Pictured is Alex, a former PCSO from Ormskirk, who was joined by John and will soon be PC's with the Early Action Team in West Lancashire, spent six days in total at the centre recently where they helped tidy the site and grit the car park.

They also spent time in the nursery, fun club and therapy services where, dressed in full uniform, they met the children and explained about the role of a police officer.

PS 2377 Stephanie Hurst, Early Action Communication & Awareness Sergeant, told QLocal: "In October we had three new Police Officer recruit intakes (60 in total). 40 of those were earmarked to work within the Early Action/Early Help arena.

"During their initial training here at Hutton HQ, all of the new recruits go on a three day community placement with a partner agency to help them to understand the communities they will work with, to understand multi-agency work and also to help build relationships with partner agencies.

Rainbow House has accepted Community Placements in the past and we hope to place more new officers there in the future.”

Carole Cochrane, Chief Executive, Rainbow House added: “John and Alex were extremely helpful and enthusiastic and we appreciate their time and efforts.

"Volunteers are very important to us and assist us in maintaining and expanding our services as we have no statutory funding and raise all of our own funds.”
