Rare red squirrels have been spotted in Scarisbrick.

They seem to be living in the trees opposite the Diglake Farm area on the approach to Hurlston Hall with one being seen on the verge last week by a QLocal reader as she was travelling home from Southport.

It follows a similar sighting in the same location last year - and claims that they are also living near Brookside on Aughton St., Ormskirk.

The local Wildlife Trust has recently launched this scheme trying to save the endangered species which has well known west Lancashire habitats in the Formby pine woods, along with Crosby and Southport.
