This time around saw no change again at the top of the Division One league table of the Ormskirk & District Amateur Snooker League. Joint leaders, Aughton Institute E, clashed with the other joint pace-setters this week in Red Lion Social Club A in a mouth-watering match and after a tight, tense match it saw both sides sharing the spoils in a very predictable 3-3 draw. The Red Lion A lads will feel the happier of the two as they battled back from 0-2 & 1-3 adrift in the encounter. This outcome sees them both continuing as joint leaders at the top of the league standings on thirty three points. The match also saw Aughton E's Richie Green continue his fine form of late as he was in good nick again with an excellent break of 41 in his frame win.

Champions of the last six seasons, Fleetwood Hesketh SSC, will be pleased with the outcome of their evening's work with a 4-2 away triumph over Aughton Institute A. The reigning Champions showed their mettle as they battled back from 0-2 early in the contest to capture the last four frames and seal their victory. This result sees them remaining in third position in the table but close to just three points adrift of the pace-setters and have that very important match in hand over both of them. The match also saw Aughton A's Mike Davies in great touch with a nice break of 37 in his frame success.

Olympic BC B came up against their club compatriots, Olympic BC A, in the Walton 'Derby' match and it saw a comprehensive 5-1 victory for the B team. The outcome sees the Olympic BC B side unchanged in fourth spot in the league proceedings but they have made ground on the three teams directly above them and sit just four points off the pace with that important match in hand over the two joint leaders. The match also saw Olympic B's Andy Edwards claim a share for this week's 'Break of the Week' prize with a superb break of 48 in his frame win.

Andy's break began with a tricky, cut-back red which he played well holding for precise black ball position. Andy potting that black were he screwed into a cluster of five reds which opened beautifully for him. He then potted a further four reds, all with blacks, with some excellent potting and pinpoint positional play to reach the forty point mark. A further red followed which was followed by a difficult pink made even harder as he cannoned into two reds that were not able to be potted. Andy dispatched the pink with aplomb and managed to disturb those two red balls. He then potted a thin next red and this left him another tricky shot as he took a long pink into the green pocket. Unfortunately for Andy, he got very close to potting that pink but it rattled and stayed out to sadly bring to an end to a superb contribution from Andy.

Lathom & Burscough RBL continue their excellent form of late and this particular week they recorded their fifth win of the current season as they produced a very solid 4-2 success at the expense of Upholland Social. This result sees them continuing in fifth slot just five points behind top spot.

The other match played this time around saw Red Lion Social Club B make it three wins on the bounce as this week they engineered a solid 4-2 away win against Rainford X SSC. This outcome sees the Maghull based team move up again in the league table to sixth place. This match also saw Red Lion A's Andy Murray grab a share of this week's 'Break of the Week' accolade, his second of the current season, with a superb break of 48 in his frame win.

Andy's break began with him potting a terrific long red and gained excellent position on the black. He dispatched that black and with that quick style of his rapidly potted a further four reds, all with high valued colours, to reach thirty nine. Andy's next red was a trick cut into a centre pocket and after playing it superbly he dropped back onto the black ball. He took that black and a further red but having to play a deep screw shot on his next black he narrowly missed it to bring an end to a finely constructed break.

Andy joined the Ormskirk League at the commencement of the 2018-19 season playing for Red Lion Social Club B in Division One. Andy has also competed in the Southport & District Snooker League for many seasons. Scarisbrick NSC sat out their free week this time around. Other notable break this week was – R Wilson (Aughton Institute E) 37.

The Division One merit table sees Scarisbrick NSC remain at the head of the pack despite it being their free week this time, their have had their advantage reduced to a six point lead, they stay on 86 points. Rainford X SSC are unchanged in second place on 80 points after their defeat this week. Third position is still occupied by Red Lion Social Club B after their fine victory this particular week, they lie on 75 points.

    Division 2

Second Division leaders, St Cuthberts recorded their sixth win of the current campaign and as early in the season that it is are looking good for a swift return to the top flight. This week they ended their evening's work with an excellent 5-1 home triumph at the expense of Aughton Institute B. This result sees them extend their advantage, for a second week running, to a very healthy five points. This match also saw St Cuthberts Steve McBrinn in fine form with a nice break of 29 in his frame win.

This particular week saw Stanley Club B come up against their struggling club compatriots, Stanley Club C in the Burscough 'Derby' match, the first of three 'Derby' match this time around. At the end of the contest it saw the Stanley B side come out on top with a 4-2 victory but not after a battle as they had to take the last two frames as it lay delicately poised at 2-2. This outcome sees the Burscough boys continue in second position in the league table, those six points off the pace.

Skelmersdale Wardens A clashed with club compatriots, Skelmersdale Wardens B this week and it saw the A team in superb nick with a very solid 5-1 away success. The match was
level at 1-1 early in the battle but the Skelmersdale A lads stepped it up to take the last four frames for their excellent win. This result sees them unchanged in third place in the league standings some six points off the pace but have closed to just one point behind the team directly above them. The match saw Skelmersdale Wardens A Mike Ashley in good touch with a nice break of 26 in his frame win.

Farmers Club got straight back to winning ways after last week's heavy defeat and much credit must go to Ormskirk based lads as this time they came up against one of the form teams in the Division in Skelmersdale Wardens C and completed a fine 4-2 home victory. This outcome sees them move back in the right direction and into fourth slot in the table, the Skelmersdale C side drop into fifth spot.

The other match played this week saw the third of the week's 'Derby' clashes and yet another Aughton 'Derby' match as Reigning Champions, Aughton Institute D and Aughton Institute C came up against each other and it saw another stalemate reached this particular time both teams shared the points in a 3-3 stalemate.
