Report: Walt Armstrong
Ormskirk won the toss and decided to bat on a greenish wicket.
The ball was moving about and the wicket was lively and with the score on 14, John Amstrong played a ball from Vahaluwala onto his foot and watched it rebound on to the stumps for 13.
Andy Baybutt followed shortly after caught at slip off the bowling of Aitchison for 0. Alex Rankin joined Josh Bohannon at the wicket who after receiving a blow from a nasty delivery from Vahaluwala charged down the wicket and was caught behind for 6 leaving Ormskirk precariously placed on 26 for 3.
Luke Platt came and together with Alex Rankin the score was moved to 49 before Alex chased a wide ball from Karl Brown and was caught behind for a gutsy 21 leaving the hosts on 49 for 4.
Luke Platt was caught at fine leg top edging a short ball from Karl Brown for 8 leaving Ormskirk on 60 for 5. A stand of 30 between Gary Knight and Ryan Maddock developed before both Gary and Ryan were dismissed with the score on 90 by Aitchison.
Small stands followed by the remaining batsmen until Alec Mason was left high and dry on 18 not out with the score a disappointing 134 all out.
Formby's start was no better than Ormskirk's due to fine opening spells from Maddock and Lees. They removed the highly rated Karl Brown and William Porterfield to leave Formby on 19 for 2 which became 28 for 3 when Oldham was caught at gully by Mason.
Following a bowling change Seward was dismissed by Nicky Caunce for 11 with the score at 59 for 4.
Wickets fell regularly to leave Formby precariously placed on 99 for 8; unfortunately for Ormskirk there followed a stand between Aitchison and Patel who eased Formby ever nearer their target.
Despite several changes of bowling these two eventually got their team over the line giving Formby 25 points and Ormskirk 6 points, a result that's changed the positions at the top of the league; Northern have moved to the top with 275 points leaving Ormskirk in second position with 258 points, and Formby now only 10 points behind.
