Our West Lancashire Borough councillor, Adrian Owens has sharply criticised Lancashire County Council Parking Services after figures in their annual report showed parking enforcement in West Lancashire had dropped by 39%.



In 2013/14, 905 PCNs were issued in West Lancashire; in 2014/15, the latest year for which figures are available the number of PCNs issued dropped to 554, a reduction of 39%.

Councillor Owens told QLocal this morning: "No one wants to see overzealous traffic wardens waiting to catch unsuspecting motorists, but we have the opposite problem locally.





"I get many complaints from residents about vehicles regularly flouting yellow line restrictions on roads around the Borough. The problem has been getting worse and these figures in the Annual Report seem to show why.

“Some Lancashire Boroughs have seen increased enforcement but West Lancashire is one of the areas of Lancashire where enforcement has dropped dramatically. Perhaps it is because we are on the edge of the county. Whatever the reason, West Lancashire appears to be getting a raw deal and it’s not good enough.”

He's now written to the Head of Lancashire Parking Services demanding an explanation of the figures, concluding: “If our parking habits in West Lancashire had markedly improved then that might be an explanation for the reduction in tickets issued, but the complaints I regularly receive from residents and the evidence of my own eyes says this is not the case even with the savings in the parking service that the county council have enacted.”

The problem you have is car parks and yellow lines are two different things
All yellow lines are issued tickets from a different source to car park tickets
The person who issues on yellow lines has a vast area to cover not just ormskirk but a lot of other areas in Lancs
I may also point out that most yellow lines are not enforceable because of the condition of them
But the perticular picture you chose behind weatherspoons is mainly always blue badge holders who park where ever they want .

Thanks Jester I know this. Thank goodness West Lancashire Borough Council don't use Lancashire Parking Services for the car parks is all I can say with these figures that Cllr Owens has uncovered.

The person who issues on yellow lines seems to do OK to reach some other parts of Lancashire as some areas have actually seen an increase so why is West Lancs seeing such a fall? Do they even know where Ormskirk is.

Because most of the time they can't issue as the yellow lines are not enforceable and other times they are blue badge holders at least that's the impression i get when I'm in the town
