A frustrated Ormskirk businessman's told QLocal of his exasperation trying to do business with the borough council.
He's hoping to expand into a borough owned property on Burscough St. - a former cafe which closed some months ago.
"I've rung the business development number four times and each time drawn a blank," he told reporter Roger Blaxall.
"Do they want to do business or not?" he wondered.
Chatting to other local shop owners it seems it's not an isolated problem.
Said a local bar owner: "I've found the council exceptionally difficult to deal with.
"You cannot speak to anyone in person by phone and they are loath to give out direct dial numbers, meaning its solely communication by e mail.
"I suspect lots of staff are still working from home."
Sheila Byrne of the thriving Hope St. charity says she's been given the brush off too after making enquiries about the adjoining 'Thai take away' that's been 'opening' for the last few months; there are dark rumours about young ladies seen at the premises.
Said She.: "We hear a few hammer knocks now and again and I don't know if that's simply to keep the council happy that some development's taking place.
"I for one am very frustrated by it all."
Another bar owner is still mystified that councillors are even contemplating another bar application for the former charity shop next to Mylo's...
