This PR statement was received yesterday afternoon to clarify the ownership of the town's busy Two Saints car park.

QLocal's Roger Blaxall is happy to set the record straight.

"The Council was never the owner of the Two Saints car park. Therefore it is inaccurate to say that the Council sold it off.

"The Two Saints Retail Car Park was always privately owned. However it was managed by the Council under the terms of an agreement with the land owners.

"In August 2013 the land owners unilaterally decided to terminate the agreement with the Council and put in place their own private arrangements to manage the car park, which also included the introduction of a revised charging structure."
