You really could have heard a pin drip at Ormskirk parish church on Tuesday night when over 150 folk sat in rapt attention for the brilliant performance of 'Brothers in arms'.
Fresh from similar performances in local churches, the play by David Banbury - who now serves at St John's, Burscough - was a powerful reminder of the bravery and sacrifice of Liverpool's Chavasse twins whose Christian faith shone in WW1.
The deeply moving play is produced by The Church of England in Lancashire and the Lancashire Methodist Church District, and tells the remarkable story of identical twins Noel and Christopher Chavasse, sons of the then Bishop of Liverpool, who served together with great distinction on the Western Front in World War 1
All profits on the night were, quite rightly, for the Royal British Legion.
