Moves to slow down traffic near a 'danger' junction in Scarisbrick are now complete.
New speed awareness strips have been applied to the A570 near its junction with Scarisbrick Hall School which is well known for near misses and crashes; prominent SLOW signs have also been painted on the carriageway.
One workman said he saw one near miss near the school exit on Thursday morning while on the stop/go signs.

These strips just make the road more slippery, especially when braking into a corner travelling at a decent speed. I have often had tyres slipping on the road surface on the ones on Blythe Lane when travelling within the 60Mph limit!

Irony, anyone?

Yeah its quite ironic they would cover the road in slippery bumpy tarmac in the exact place they expect people have to break suddenly to avoid a collision.

In hindsight, would'nt it have been safer, and better,if the Main Scarisbrick Hall school entrance could have been moved, and site it somewhere along the straight part of the A570 road, instead of it being near to that corner ?
With the junction of Gorsuch Lane being virtually opposite the school entrance it has always been an accident Blackspot for vehicles, whether you're driving towards Ormskirk,or towards Southport.

The Chelsea tractors coming out of SH school after picking up little Methuzelah or Neffertiti-Hermione seem to think they have a divine right to pull out in front of plebs going about their daily business. If the school can't put a couple of quid on the fees to pay for a new entrance then I suppose the council tax payers of West Lanc's will have to stump up for traffic lights.

Don't be silly that's using common sense, if for instance that had been a new development the entrance would never have been permitted onto the road at that point.
