Hours of hard work paid off for the good folk of Burscough with the village’s first Scarecrow Festival a great success this weekend!
The event saw folk display around 120 scarecrows of all shapes and sizes with just over £1000 raised for three local charities – the Alfie Lund Fund, Lifting Louis and Steps for Sienna.
MP Rosie Cooper, councillor Andrew Pritchard and Debra Baldwin were the judges with the difficult task of choosing the respective winners; after two hours deliberations they chose:
Best house: The Adams family, Orrell Lane Burscough
Best Business: ‘Heskin Funny Farm,’ Heskin Farm B&B, School Lane
Best school: St John’s RC Primary School, Chapel Lane
Best Church: Burscough Methodist Church with a stunning display that must have taken hours and hours to create.
And of course Burscough village was the big winner; well done to Julie Woods (and team) for creating such a wonderful event – which she says won’t be the last!
“We aim to come back bigger and better in 2019 and have booked Burscough CC for the Scarecrow Festival summer fete," she told QLocal’s Roger Blaxall this afternoon.
