Report from June Sears-Jones

The Stocks Hall Skelmersdale home recently hosted an event stall supporting ‘Dying Matters' awareness week.

Its aim - to raise public awareness about the importance of all issues around dying, death and bereavement, encouraging folk to talk openly about such matters.

Stocks Hall staff members - Deputy Manager Sue Gaskell, Claire Williamson, and Tracie Lahart - spent the day talking to members of the public, helping them be aware of the aims of Dying Matters Week and giving out information packs. They also sold home-made cakes, lovingly made by Sue Gaskell and others, to raise money for Queenscourt Hospice, making £105.

Our thanks to The Concourse Shopping Centre for generously donating their space for this event, and to everyone who donated on the day.

Sue told QLocal: "'Dying Matters' is very close to our hearts at Stocks Hall Care Homes. It is very important that everybody has support around dying matters and know how to make their wishes known. We trust all who approached us left with the information they required.”
